About RefuCare
Who We Are
We Are Sisters. We Are Brothers. We Are Mothers. We Are Fathers. We Are One Community.
At Refucare, we believe in the power of humanity. We recognize that while life presents its challenges, there are countless Eritrean refugees facing unimaginable hardships. Our mission is born from a deep sense of responsibility to uplift, empower, and restore dignity to those who have been displaced.
Refucare is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting refugee children and women in East Africa. While we initially served the Eritrean community, our work has expanded to reach Eritrean, Ethiopian, Somali, Djiboutian, Ugandan, and Yemeni refugees across the Horn of Africa. Our core focus areas include children's education and well-being, as well as women’s empowerment through income-generating opportunities.
Every year, our largest project is providing Ramadan aid, ensuring that no refugee goes to bed hungry. We are a small but mighty organization based in California, founded in 2017 by humanitarian and documentary filmmaker Sabrina Aman. Refucare exists because no one should be forgotten.

Our Mission
We believe that every child deserves an education, every woman deserves an opportunity, and every refugee deserves dignity.
At Refucare, we work tirelessly to provide:
-
Access to education and activities for refugee children
-
Economic empowerment for refugee women through sustainable income opportunities
-
Essential food and relief aid, including our annual Ramadan aid program
Our goal is not just to provide aid but to help refugees take ownership of their circumstances, build thriving communities, and cultivate self-reliance. When refugees express their needs, we listen. And when they ask for support, we deliver.
RefuCare is a 501c3 non-profit. All donations received will be tax-exempt.

Our Impact
RefuCare has made a difference in the education system and in the alleviation in boredom in the refugee camps in Sudan. Soon, with your help, RefuCare looks forward to reaching other refugee communities in East Africa and beyond. We want to help bring true infrastructure into these camps to help turn them into communities that focus on the well-being of the whole person.
